Reverse engineering and 3D scanning in Lodz
Have a worn part without a drawing? We scan it at our plant in Lodz or at your site, build a CAD model and manufacture a new part. That is reverse engineering and 3D scanning with part manufacturing — in a single order.
This is how we recreate spare parts and machine components, from a single piece. Our design office builds the model in Siemens NX and Solid Edge, and the part is made in our own machine park.

3D scanning and reverse engineering in a single plant
We scan the part with a Scantech NimbleTrack-C Gen2 3D scanner — without sticking markers onto the surface. It is a handheld laser 3D scanner: in ultra-fast mode, it measures the part with 54 blue laser lines (Class II, eye-safe). The scanner is portable and wireless, so we scan at our plant or at your site, e.g. a part still mounted in a machine. From the scan data, our design office builds a CAD model in Siemens NX or Solid Edge. We manufacture the new part in the same plant at Elektronowa 6; we can verify the dimensions with the same scanner.
3D scanning with a handheld laser scanner
We perform laser scanning with a Scantech NimbleTrack handheld 3D scanner (i-Scanner with blue laser lines and optical i-Tracker), without markers on the part.
CAD model and documentation
Our design office builds the CAD model in Siemens NX (3 licences) and Solid Edge (8 licences) and prepares manufacturing documentation for the part.
Manufacturing and inspection
We mill, turn, cut, bend and weld the new part in our own machine park, from a single piece. We can verify dimensions using the same 3D scanner, a granite surface plate and a Mitutoyo height gauge.

Reverse engineering step by step: from scan to finished part
We start from the physical part itself, not a drawing. Scanning, CAD modelling, machining and inspection are all done in a single plant at Elektronowa 6. See also part manufacturing on CNC milling machines.
3D scan
We scan with a Scantech NimbleTrack-C Gen2 scanner, without markers on the part — at our plant or at your site. We measure the physical part, even if worn or damaged.

We make the new part in our own machine park — milling, turning, cutting, bending or welding, depending on the part.

We can verify the dimensions of the finished part with the 3D scanner, comparing it against the CAD model, as well as with a Mitutoyo height gauge.

What to bring for reverse engineering
For reverse engineering, you do not need a drawing or a 3D model — the part itself, whether original or worn, is enough. You can bring it to our plant or invite us with the scanner to your site. If you have even partial documentation, attach it to your enquiry.
The order price will depend on:
- part material (if known)
- shape complexity
- the scope of documentation you already have
- quantity
- manufacturing method (CNC, cutting, bending, welding)
- lead time

- Bring the part or send photosYou can deliver the physical part (original or worn) to our plant at Elektronowa 6; we also accept photos with a reference dimension (e.g. with a ruler or calliper placed next to the part), a drawing (even partial), and PDF, DXF, DWG, STEP, IGES, ZIP or 7Z files.
- Describe your orderMaterial (if known), quantity, and what the part is used for.

Reverse engineering and 3D scanning in Lodz — Elektronowa 6
The ECAD plant at ul. Elektronowa 6 in Lodz is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 16:00. We have been operating since 2008 and employ 25 people. We hold an ISO 9001:2015 certificate for metal forming and machining as well as machine design and building. See contact and directions, the Scantech NimbleTrack scanner in our machine park, and our full range of services.
Video: reverse engineering and 3D scanning
We first published this video in 2024. It shows CAD design, scanning with a handheld 3D scanner, and scan processing for reverse engineering. Some of the equipment and services shown may not reflect our current offering — today we scan with a Scantech NimbleTrack scanner.

Questions about reverse engineering and 3D scanning
What is reverse engineering?
It is the recreation of a part without documentation. We scan the physical part with a 3D scanner, our design office builds a CAD model from the scan, and based on that we manufacture a new part in our machine park. We can verify the dimensions with the same scanner.
Can you recreate a spare part without a drawing or 3D model?
It is enough to bring or photograph the part itself, even if worn — without a drawing or 3D model. For a quote, send photos with a reference dimension and any documentation you have. We will scan the part at our plant at Elektronowa 6 or at your site. We will verify whether a specific part can be recreated when preparing the quote.
Do you scan at the client’s site?
Yes. The Scantech NimbleTrack-C Gen2 scanner is portable and wireless, so we can scan the part at your site — even if it is large or mounted in a machine. The range of a single tracker is 3.5 m. We agree on the date and conditions for on-site scanning when preparing the quote.
Will the new part fit just like the original?
The accuracy of the Scantech NimbleTrack-C Gen2 scanner (up to 0.020 mm) is a parameter of the measuring device, not the tolerance of the manufactured part. Manufacturing tolerances for the new part are agreed and confirmed at the quote stage.
How does 3D laser scanning of a part work?
The handheld Scantech NimbleTrack-C Gen2 3D laser scanner projects blue laser lines onto the part and captures a point cloud from them. We scan without reference markers on the surface. We export the result to formats such as STL and IGES, and our design office builds a CAD model from it.
How accurate is the Scantech NimbleTrack 3D scanner?
This handheld scanner has an accuracy of up to 0.020 mm, the entire system (scanner and tracker) up to 0.025 mm, and hole position accuracy is 0.050 mm. For larger parts, accuracy also depends on their size and distance from the tracker. We scan without sticking markers onto the part.
How much do 3D scanning and reverse engineering cost?
The price of 3D scanning and reverse engineering depends on the job — we do not publish fixed rates or a price list. We quote each order individually based on photos of the part and the documentation you have; if that is not enough, we will ask you to deliver the part. The price depends on the material, shape complexity, quantity, manufacturing method for the new part, and lead time.
What files do you accept for a quote?
We accept PDF, DXF, DWG, STEP, IGES, photos (JPG, PNG, TIFF), and ZIP and 7Z archives. If you have no documentation at all, the part itself is enough.
