Laser welding in Lodz
At ECAD in Lodz, we perform laser welding on a Spartus Easy 2000 (2 kW) with single or double wire feed; the laser weld is max. 1.5–2 mm wide. We select this method for thin sheet metal, stainless steel enclosures and cabinets when the weld is to remain visible without grinding.

We quote based on a drawing or 3D model, from one-offs to series production. How laser welding differs from Kemppi welders and what our certificates do not cover is explained in the method comparison.
Spartus Easy 2000 laser (2 kW)
weld max. 1.5–2 mm
Kemppi welders: larger welds
Laser welding: stainless steel enclosures, cabinets and thin sheet metal
We choose laser welding where appearance and a small weld matter: for stainless steel enclosures and cabinets, as well as thin sheet metal. The laser beam typically introduces less heat into the material than arc welding, resulting in less part distortion and a narrow, neat weld. Whether laser welding suits your part is determined during quoting. Other methods are described on our welding services page.

Laser or Kemppi welders: which method we choose
We weld using the Spartus Easy 2000 laser and Kemppi welders. We match the method to the part and weld requirements. Below are the decisive differences.
| Feature | Laser welding | Kemppi welders |
|---|---|---|
| Equipment | Spartus Easy 2000 laser welder (2 kW) | Kemppi arc welders |
| Weld | max. 1.5–2 mm, single or double wire | larger welds |
| Weld appearance | narrow, remains visible without grinding | wider; often ground smooth on visible surfaces |
| Typical parts | stainless steel enclosures and cabinets, thin sheet metal | welded structures and parts requiring larger welds |
| Materials and thicknesses | for butt welding, maximum: stainless steel 6.5 mm, low-carbon steel 6 mm, galvanised sheet metal 5 mm; we confirm thicknesses for your part when quoting from your drawing | structural steel, stainless steel, aluminium and other metals to order |

- Laser power
- 2 kW (2000 W)
- Operating mode
- continuous or modulated
- Cooling
- liquid
- Wire
- single or double
- Welding head
- handheld, with wobble function (beam width adjustment); scanning width 0–8 mm

- Weld
- max. 1.5–2 mm
We typically laser weld thin sheet metal and enclosures. The weld size (maximum 1.5–2 mm) is distinct from the maximum welded sheet thickness stated above. When preparing a quote based on your drawing, we will confirm which thicknesses and joints we can produce for your part.
Laser welding is not covered by our welding certificates: EN ISO 3834-2 covers processes 135 (MAG) and 141 (TIG). We expand our certification scope for specific orders with new welding procedure specifications (WPS) and welding procedure qualification records (WPQR). If your order requires a certificate, please mention this in your enquiry. See ECAD certificates.
Visible welds without grinding
An arc weld that is meant to remain visible often has to be ground flush after welding. A laser produces a narrow weld, which is why we use it where the weld is to remain visible without grinding: on enclosures, cabinets and thin sheet metal.
We do not promise that every laser weld will require no post-processing. Weld appearance requirements are agreed during quoting, so please specify in your enquiry which surfaces will be visible.

Cutting and bending before welding, 3D inspection afterwards
We prepare components for laser welding at the same facility at Elektronowa 6. Because a laser weld is narrow, the parts must fit together closely.
Before welding: cutting and bending
We cut sheet metal with an HSG G3015H V2 fibre laser and bend it on a Trumpf TruBend 7050 press brake. See laser cutting and sheet metal bending. Don’t have documentation? Our design office can prepare a 3D model and drawing.
After welding: 3D inspection
We can check the dimensions of the finished enclosure or assembly using a Scantech 3D scanner and a Mitutoyo height gauge. We can also finish the part by CNC milling or surface grinding.
What to send for a laser welding quote
We quote laser welding on the basis of a drawing or 3D model, not from a price list. See also: what determines the price of cutting and bending.
The order price depends on:
- the material and its grade
- sheet thickness and required weld size
- number and length of welds
- weld appearance requirements (which surfaces are visible)
- quantity
- lead time

Questions about laser welding
What thicknesses do you laser weld?
The Spartus Easy 2000 laser welder butt-welds stainless steel up to 6.5 mm, low-carbon steel up to 6 mm and galvanised sheet metal up to 5 mm. Because the laser produces a maximum weld size of 1.5–2 mm, we primarily use it to weld thin sheet metal, enclosures and stainless steel cabinets. When preparing a quote based on your drawing, we will confirm which thicknesses we can join and which joints we can produce for your part. Components requiring a larger weld are welded on Kemppi welding machines.
Do you laser weld with filler wire?
Yes. The Spartus welder operates with a single or twin wire feeder, so we carry out laser welding with single or twin filler wire. The wire adds material to the weld, which generally makes the process more tolerant of small gaps between parts, while twin wire fills wider gaps more effectively. We decide which option to use for your part when preparing the quote.
How much does laser welding cost?
We do not have a welding price list. We price laser welding on the basis of a drawing or 3D model. The price depends on the material and thickness, the number and length of welds, weld appearance requirements, quantity and lead time. Send your drawing for a quote.
Is laser welding covered by a certificate?
No. Our EN ISO 3834-2 certificate covers processes 135 (MAG) and 141 (TIG), and laser welding is not within its scope. We expand our certification scope for specific orders with new welding procedure specifications (WPS) and welding procedure qualification records (WPQR). Some customers do not require a certificate. If your order requires one, please mention this in your enquiry. See ECAD certificates.
Do you weld aluminium?
Yes. At ECAD, we weld aluminium at a dedicated stainless steel and aluminium station. See stainless steel and aluminium welding.
How does laser welding differ from welding on Kemppi machines?
With a laser, we produce a narrow weld of maximum 1.5–2 mm, which can often be left visible without grinding. On Kemppi machines, we weld larger welds and structures, and a visible arc weld is often ground flush. Because we weld various metals, we select the method for your part during quoting.
What is the minimum order quantity for laser welding?
We accept orders ranging from single pieces to series runs. Please state the quantity in your enquiry, as it affects the price.
