3D laser cutting
of tubes and profiles
in Lodz — coming soon

Laser cutting of tubes and profiles is planned for December 2026. Our Bodor SK2 laser with a 3D head and 6 kW source will also cut bevels up to 45° for welding preparation. We are already accepting tube and profile drawings now to check whether your part fits within the machine’s working range.

Today, we already bend tubes and profiles on our VLB EB53CNC-RH CNC mandrel tube bender, weld them and measure them with a 3D scanner.

3D laser profile cutting: Bodor SK2, 6 kW, coming soon

Our Bodor SK2 is a 3D fibre laser for tubes and profiles, featuring a 6 kW source, a 3D head and two chucks. Once installed, it will handle laser cutting of tubes and profiles.

3D laser cutting: weld preparation bevel

The 3D head cuts the tube or profile wall at an angle of up to 45° in a single pass. This creates a bevel that prepares the edge for welding.

Laser cutting of tubes and profiles: holes, cut-outs, cutting to length

The laser cuts holes and cut-outs in the tube wall. It also pierces holes in profiles and cuts parts to length.

Tubes and profiles of various cross-sections

The Bodor SK2 cuts round tubes of Ø 8–230 mm as well as square and rectangular tubes with a side of 8–230 mm, up to 6500 mm in length and up to 300 kg in weight. It also detects the weld seam on welded tubes.

Tube cutting, bending, welding and 3D measurement in a single order

Laser cutting will be the first operation in a process chain that is already running: bending, welding and 3D measurement of tubes and profiles. After cutting, we will weld and measure the tube within the same order. In the 6–53 mm range (steel tube up to Ø 53 × 2 mm), we can also bend it on our VLB EB53CNC-RH bending machine. More about combining operations: full-service production. See also our post on accepting enquiries for tube cutting.

Laser tube cutting in Lodz, Elektronowa 6

Our plant at ul. Elektronowa 6 in Lodz is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 16:00. We have been operating since 2008 and employ 25 people. See contact and directions, the Bodor SK2 laser in our machine park and our full range of services.

What to send for laser cutting of tubes and profiles

We quote laser cutting of tubes and profiles based on a 3D model or technical documentation, not a price list. Just like our other services, we will produce everything from single pieces to series runs.

Ideally, prepare a 3D model of the tube or profile in STEP or IGES format: it shows holes, cut-outs and bevels. On the drawing, specify the tube or profile dimensions, wall thickness, material and grade, part length, as well as hole positions and bevel angles. More: what determines the price of cutting and bending.

  1. Send a drawing or 3D model

We already accept: PDF, DXF, DWG, STEP, IGES, photos (JPG, PNG, TIFF) or a ZIP or 7Z archive. Up to 10 files, up to 100 MB in total.

  2. Describe your order

Tube or profile dimensions and wall thickness, material and grade, part length, quantity, and whether the parts require bending or welding.

  3. We will reply with any questions

We will check the files, ask for any missing details and let you know whether the laser can cut your part. Launch is planned for December 2026.

The order price will depend on:

  • material and grade
  • tube or profile dimensions and wall thickness
  • cutting length
  • quantity
  • bending and welding
  • lead time

Questions about laser cutting of tubes and profiles

When will laser cutting of tubes and profiles launch?

It will launch after the installation of the Bodor SK2 laser, which is planned for December 2026. We are already accepting enquiries and drawings. In our reply, we will confirm whether your part falls within the laser’s capacity. We already bend tubes and profiles, weld them and measure them with a 3D scanner.

What tubes and profiles will the Bodor SK2 cut?

Round tubes with a diameter of 8–230 mm and square and rectangular tubes with a side of 8–230 mm. A tube can be up to 6500 mm long and weigh up to 300 kg (46 kg per metre). We will check other profiles when preparing a quote: this depends on the dimensions, wall thickness and material.

Can the laser cut bevels for weld preparation?

Yes. The 3D head cuts bevels up to 45° in a single pass. Mark the bevel angle on the drawing or in the 3D model, and we will verify during quoting whether we can cut that bevel on your part.

How does 3D laser cutting differ from sheet metal cutting?

We cut sheet metal with a 12 kW HSG G3015H V2 fibre laser on a 3000 × 1500 mm bed, where the sheet lies flat. A 3D tube and profile laser rotates the tube or profile in two chucks, and the 3D head also cuts at an angle. See sheet metal laser cutting.

Can you bend and weld the tube after cutting?

Yes. We bend tubes and profiles in the 6–53 mm range, and steel tubes up to Ø 53 × 2 mm, on our VLB EB53CNC-RH CNC mandrel tube bender. Whether we can bend your tube depends on the wall thickness, material and bending tools; we verify this when quoting. We weld manually and robotically, and check dimensions with a Scantech NimbleTrack 3D scanner. See tube and profile bending.

Which file should I send: a drawing or a 3D model?

For tubes and profiles, it is best to send a 3D model in STEP or IGES format: it shows the positions of holes, cut-outs and bevels. We also accept PDF, DXF, DWG, photos (JPG, PNG, TIFF) and ZIP and 7Z archives. On the drawing, specify the tube or profile dimensions, wall thickness, material and grade, part length, hole positions and bevel angles. State the quantity in your message.

How much will laser cutting of tubes and profiles cost?

We do not have a price list: we quote tube and profile cutting based on a 3D model or technical documentation. The price will depend on the material, tube or profile dimensions, wall thickness, cutting length, quantity and additional operations. See what determines the price.

Planning parts made from tubes and profiles?

We are already accepting drawings of tubes and profiles. Send your file and tell us what you need: tube or profile dimensions, wall thickness, material, bevels and quantity. We will check whether the part fits within the capacity of our laser, whose launch is planned for December 2026. We already bend, weld and measure tubes today.
