Sheet metal
plasma cutting in Lodz

Using our STIGAL plasma cutter (3000 × 1500 mm, Hypertherm HPR130XD, 130 A) in Lodz, we cut structural steel up to 38 mm (32 mm pierce) as well as stainless steel and aluminium up to 25 mm (20 mm pierce). We quote from drawings or DXF files, from single items to series.

Flame-cut parts are welded in our welding shop or further machined on our CNC machines.

Plasma cutting of steel, stainless steel and aluminium

The thickness that plasma can cut depends on the material. The table shows maximum values for the Hypertherm HPR130XD source; we confirm the thickness and edge quality for your part in the quote.

Piercing is the maximum thickness at which plasma pierces the sheet metal in production cutting. Maximum cutting is the greatest thickness that plasma can sever.

Plasma cutting, laser cutting or waterjet cutting: which method we use

Plasma cutting uses a plasma arc: a jet of ionised gas melts the metal and blows it out of the kerf. The sheet metal is part of the electrical circuit, so plasma only cuts conductive metals. A plasma-cut edge is usually less smooth than a laser-cut edge, and small holes in thick sheet metal turn out better on a laser. We therefore match the method to the material, thickness and drawing requirements. You can find a comparison of methods in our guide: laser, waterjet or plasma.

Plasma cutting, welding and CNC machining in a single order

Parts after plasma cutting do not need to go to another company. We weld them in our welding shop and, if required, machine them on our CNC machines. See also full-service production.

Alongside the steps, we show production drawings of thick plates from ECAD’s own project.

  1. Drawing or DXF file

Send us a drawing, DXF file or 3D model. If you only have a sketch, our design office will prepare the drawing.

  2. Plasma cutting

We cut contours and holes on a STIGAL cutting machine, starting from a single piece.

  3. Deburring

We remove burrs from the edges after cutting.

  4. Welding and CNC machining

We weld parts in our welding shop (welding, welded structures), and where accurate surfaces matter, we mill, turn and grind flat surfaces (CNC milling, CNC turning).

Plasma cutting in Lodz, ul. Elektronowa 6

We carry out plasma cutting at our plant at ul. Elektronowa 6 in Lodz, open Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 16:00. The facility has a car park and vehicle access, and you can bring a part in during working hours without an appointment. We have been operating since 2008 and employ 25 people. See contact and directions and machine park.

How to order plasma cutting

We quote plasma cutting based on a drawing or 3D model; we do not have a price list per metre of cutting. Read more: what affects the price of cutting and bending.

The price depends on:

  • material and its grade
  • sheet metal thickness
  • cutting length and number of pierces (holes)
  • quantity
  • deburring, welding, CNC machining
  • lead time

Questions about plasma cutting

Up to what thickness do you plasma cut?

We plasma pierce structural steel up to 32 mm and cut it up to a maximum of 38 mm. We pierce stainless steel and aluminium up to 20 mm and cut them up to a maximum of 25 mm. These are the maximum capacities of the Hypertherm HPR130XD power source; we will confirm the thickness and edge quality for your part in the quote.

Plasma cutting or laser cutting: which to choose?

The HSG G3015H V2 laser (12 kW) cuts structural steel up to 20 mm with a high-quality edge and is better at cutting small holes. We choose plasma for thicker structural steel, as well as for stainless steel and aluminium when the edge does not need a laser-like finish, for example when the part will be welded. We select the method during quoting; see laser cutting and waterjet cutting.

How much does plasma cutting cost?

We do not have a price list per metre. We quote each part based on a drawing or model; the price depends on the material, thickness, cutting length, number of pierces, quantity and additional operations. Read more on the cutting and bending price list page.

Do you plasma cut aluminium and stainless steel?

Yes. We plasma pierce aluminium and stainless steel up to 20 mm and cut them up to a maximum of 25 mm. We can then weld the cut parts in our welding shop (stainless steel and aluminium welding).

What files should I send for a plasma cutting quote?

PDF, DXF, DWG, STEP, IGES, photos (JPG, PNG, TIFF) or a ZIP or 7Z archive, up to 10 files and 100 MB. For cutting, a DXF file with the contour and holes is most convenient; state the material, thickness and quantity of the part you need.

Do you cut single pieces?

Yes, from a single piece to batch production, from a drawing or 3D model.

Do you weld and machine parts after cutting?

Yes. We weld manually and on FANUC robots, and we mill, turn and grind parts requiring accurate surfaces in the same plant. See welding and CNC machining.
