Level CL 2 and activity P in EN 15085-2
The Polish Committee for Standardization introduced the EN 15085-2 standard as PN-EN 15085-2 (Railway applications: Welding of railway vehicles and components). The 2020+A1:2023 edition defines three manufacturer classification levels, CL 1–CL 3, depending on the safety relevance of the welded components. Our certificate covers level CL 2 and activity P: production of new assemblies and components for rail vehicles, excluding design and excluding the purchase of finished welded parts.

Level CL 2
Certificate TUVRh/15085/CL2/PL019/25 was issued by TÜV Rheinland Polska (PCA accreditation AC 141) and is valid until 24.08.2028. CL 2 covers components of medium safety relevance; only CL 1 has higher requirements.
Activity P: production
In the standard, code P also covers modification, testing and spare parts. Our certificate covers the production of new assemblies and components for rail vehicles. This is a different code from D (design), M (maintenance) or S (purchase and supply of welded parts).
Scope expanded to order
We expand the welding processes, materials and thicknesses covered by our certificate with new welding procedure specifications (WPS) and welding procedure qualification records (WPQR) for a specific order.

EN ISO 3834-2: comprehensive quality requirements in welding
We also hold the EN ISO 3834-2 certificate: comprehensive quality requirements in welding, processes 135 (MAG) and 141 (TIG), material groups 1.1, 1.2 and 8.1.
The EN ISO 3834-2:2021 certificate (TÜV Rheinland Polska, no. 01 8610 PL/A-250054.00) confirms comprehensive quality requirements in welding. It covers processes 135 (MAG) and 141 (TIG) and material groups 1.1, 1.2 and 8.1 (austenitic stainless steels with chromium content up to 19%) according to ISO/TR 15608. The certificate covers the manufacture of rail vehicles or their parts as well as components for machinery construction. It is valid until 24.09.2030. Both welding certificates and the other two (ISO 9001, ISO 14001) are available for download on the certificates page.
The welding certificates were issued by TÜV Rheinland Polska, and ISO 9001 by LL-C (Certification). Click a document to open the PDF. The full scope of processes, materials and thicknesses is in the certificate body; numbers and dates are in the certificate table.

ECAD welding shop: FANUC robots, CUBE tables and stainless steel workstation
Our welding shop at ul. Elektronowa 6 in Lodz operates two FANUC welding robots, three workstations with in-house designed CUBE welding tables and a separate workstation for stainless steel and aluminium welding. After welding, we can perform stress-relief annealing of structures in our own furnace with a 1000 × 1200 × 800 mm chamber, reducing residual welding stresses. Other processes, materials and thicknesses can be qualified per order (WPS/WPQR).
Robotic welding
Two FANUC welding robots. See FANUC robots in our machine park.
Workstations with CUBE tables
Three manual workstations with in-house designed CUBE welding tables, a dedicated brand CUBEWELD (cubeweld.pl website).
Stainless steel and aluminium
A separate workstation for stainless steel and aluminium welding. See stainless steel and aluminium welding.

Welding in the production chain: cutting, bending, annealing, inspection
We prepare parts for welding at the same plant, and can subject the finished assembly to stress-relief annealing and 3D scanner inspection within a single order.
Cutting and bending
We prepare sheet metal flat patterns by laser cutting and press brake bending, and bend tubes and profiles on a CNC mandrel tube bender.
Laser cuttingWelding (this page)
We weld manually and on FANUC robots for the railway sector to EN 15085-2.
Stress-relief annealing
We can anneal the welded assembly in our own furnace to reduce residual stresses.
Stress-relief annealing3D inspection
We can verify the dimensions of the finished assembly using a Scantech NimbleTrack 3D scanner and a Mitutoyo height gauge.
3D quality inspection
What to send for a railway welding quote
We quote railway welding based on technical documentation, not a price list. Send an assembly drawing or 3D model of the assembly, material specifications and the standard requirements for the order. We accept orders from one-off items to series production.
Factors affecting the order price:
- material and grade
- number and complexity of welds
- customer requirements for welds and welding documentation, or the need for a new WPS and WPQR
- cutting and bending of parts prior to welding
- quantity
- lead time
Prefer to call? +48 697 270 000 (Mon–Fri 8:00–16:00)
Prefer e-mail? biuro@ecad.com.pl
- Send documentationPDF, DXF, DWG, STEP, IGES, photos (JPG, PNG, TIFF) or a ZIP or 7Z archive. Up to 10 files, max. 100 MB in total.
- Describe your orderMaterial, quantity, required standard or CL level, and lead time.
- We will reply with any questionsWe will check whether your order falls within CL 2 and our current certificate scope, or requires a new WPS and WPQR.

FAQ: railway welding to EN 15085-2
Do you hold an EN 15085-2 certificate for the railway sector?
Yes. We hold an EN 15085-2 certificate (TÜV Rheinland Polska, No. TUVRh/15085/CL2/PL019/25), certification level CL 2, activity type P: production of new assemblies and parts for rail vehicles. The certificate is valid until 24.08.2028.
What does certification level CL 2 mean?
EN 15085-2 defines three manufacturer certification levels (CL 1–CL 3) depending on the safety relevance of the components. Our level, CL 2, covers components of medium safety relevance; only CL 1 has higher requirements.
Can you weld using a process or material not currently listed on the certificate?
We can extend the scope of processes, materials and thicknesses under EN 15085-2 for a specific order by adding new welding procedure specifications (WPS) and welding procedure qualification records (WPQR). Let us know what your project requires and we will check this when preparing your quote.
Do you hold a welding quality certificate that also covers machine parts, not just railway applications?
Yes, EN ISO 3834-2 also covers parts for machine structures, not just rail vehicles. It represents comprehensive quality requirements for fusion welding: processes 135 (MAG) and 141 (TIG) and material groups 1.1, 1.2 and 8.1. Valid until 24.09.2030.
What welding equipment do you use?
Two FANUC welding robots, three workstations with CUBE welding tables and a separate workstation for stainless steel and aluminium. After welding, we can subject the assembly to stress-relief annealing in our own furnace and measure it with a 3D scanner.
Have a welding project for the rail industry?
Send your assembly drawing or 3D model. We will check whether the order falls within level CL 2 and the current scope of our EN 15085-2 certificate, or requires a new WPS and WPQR.
