Pallet label applicator

The ECAD pallet label applicator scans the code on the pallet, prints a label, and applies it using a robot. At the TCL plant in Zyrardow, it labels pallets of packed televisions. We can design and build a similar station for your line.

Line-side pallet labelling

The applicator stands beside the conveyor and applies labels to incoming pallets. It makes sense where:

  • Pallets move on a conveyor

The line sends the pallet position to the applicator and stops it at the robot working position.

  • The label depends on the pallet

Each pallet has a code. Based on it, the applicator selects the label template and application positions.

  • Labels go in several places

You can set up to 10 application positions on a single pallet.

  • Label templates change

A new template is configured on the HMI panel in the label editor and verified with a test print.

How the label applicator works

The applicator scans the code on the pallet, prints the label and applies it at the position saved in the recipe. This industrial labeller is a standalone unit beside the line. It only exchanges signals with the line: the line provides the pallet position, and the applicator requests it to stop at the working position. The work cycle on each pallet has three steps.

  1. Side view: robot arm extended above the guard, tool aimed at the side of a pallet stacked with cartons.
Robot with tool by the pallet, side view.

    Code scanning

The robot reads the code on the pallet from the front, the side or both sides. Based on the code, the applicator selects the recipe: label template and application positions.

  2. Front view of the robot tool: housing at the top, below it a rectangular plate with a regular grid of holes.
Robot tool with vacuum pad head, front view.

    Label printing and pick-up

A thermal transfer printer prints the label, and the robot picks it up from the printer using a vacuum head at the end of the arm.

    Label application

The robot applies the label at the position saved in the recipe. There can be up to 10 such positions on a single pallet.

Operating at the TCL plant in Zyrardow

We designed the station to fit the space by the conveyor on the client’s shop floor and built it at ECAD in Lodz. Other custom machines are described on the machine design and building page.

Custom pallet labelling machine

We do not publish prices. We quote the station based on details about your line, pallets and labels. The more items from this list you send, the fewer questions we will need to ask:

  • photos and dimensions of the space by the line
  • pallet dimensions and type
  • label layout (file)
  • number of labels and application positions
  • where the code is located on the pallet
  • how pallets arrive and what signals the line provides
  • how many pallets per hour it needs to handle

Questions about the label applicator

What does the pallet label applicator do?

It scans the code on the pallet, prints labels and applies them in the positions saved in the recipe, up to 10 on a single pallet. The labels come out of a thermal transfer printer, and the robot picks them up with a vacuum head. At the TCL plant in Zyrardow, it labels pallets of packed televisions.

Where does your label applicator operate?

At the TCL plant in Zyrardow. We designed and built it at ECAD.

Can you build a similar labelling machine for our line?

Yes. We design and build custom machines. We will tailor the station to your pallets, labels and space by the line. To start, send photos and dimensions of the space along with a label layout via the quote form.

How do you change the label layout or application position?

On the HMI panel. You set the layout and print a test label in the label editor, and set the application positions in the recipe. The applicator selects the recipe automatically based on the pallet code.

Does the applicator need to be integrated with the line control system?

The applicator is a standalone unit placed beside the line. It only exchanges signals with the line: the line reports the pallet position, and the applicator requests it to stop at the working position.

Does the applicator have an EC Declaration of Conformity?

Yes. In the EC Declaration of Conformity dated 12.12.2025, we declared as the manufacturer that the machine complies with Directives 2006/42/EC (Machinery), 2014/30/EU (EMC) and 2011/65/EU (RoHS). The harmonised standards applied are EN ISO 12100, EN ISO 10218-2, EN ISO 13849-1, EN 60204-1 and EN ISO 13857. The machine carries the CE mark and comes with an operating manual to PN-EN ISO 20607. The robot operates behind guards, and opening the guard door stops hazardous movement.

How much does the label applicator cost and how long does it take to label a pallet?

We do not state the price or cycle time without details of the line. Both depend on the pallets, the number and positions of the labels, and how the pallets arrive. We determine them when preparing your quote.
