EU projects: EU funding
Here we describe two ECAD EU projects in Lodz co-funded by the EU. The first prepares the company for transformation towards Industry 4.0; the second implements DSR stress relieving technology in the production of modular CUBE welding tables. Below we present the goals, purchases, outcomes and value of both projects, along with the European Funds contribution.

DSR Project: stress relieving furnace and CUBE welding table modules

ECAD A. Wojtczak, R. Zarębski sp.k. obtained funding for the project “Implementation of an automated production process for the CUBE modular welding table using innovative DSR stress relieving technology”. The project is funded by the European Union under the regional programme European Funds for Lodzkie 2021–2027.
We showcase our proprietary CUBE welding tables on the CUBEWELD (cubeweld.pl website) page.
Project objective
The objective is to implement R&D results in the production of modular CUBE welding tables and to develop technology enabling series production of modules with high precision and dimensional stability.
Part of the project involves implementing DSR (Double Stress Relief) technology, i.e. double stress relieving of the material. It is designed to ensure greater dimensional stability of the modules and increase their fatigue strength.
What we purchased under the project
- stress relieving and annealing furnace
- 5-axis machining centre
- welding fume extractor
- extensive green roof structure (vegetation-covered roof)
The sticker “Purchase co-financed by the European Union” can be seen on the welding fume extractor (photo at the top of the page) and on the furnace (photos below).
Project outcomes
- development of CUBE module production technology to establish a process enabling series manufacturing of modules with precise dimensions and dimensional stability
- development and implementation of material stress relieving processes to eliminate welding-induced stresses and ensure the required quality and dimensional stability of the modules
- increased production capacity through the purchase of an annealing furnace and the implementation of an automated production line
Who the project is aimed at
The beneficiaries of the project are metalworking and welded structures companies for which precision and dimensional stability are critical to work quality. The second target group comprises companies in the modular structures sector.

Industry 4.0 project: MES, failure prediction, IIoT and welding robot

We completed the project “Preparing ECAD for the implementation of a comprehensive transformation towards Industry 4.0”, co-financed by the European Funds. The project poster and plaque state the name ECAD Spółka Cywilna. In 2022, the civil law partnership was transformed into the current ECAD A. Wojtczak, R. Zarębski sp.k.

Project objective
The objective was to initiate the company’s transformation towards Industry 4.0 by expanding the MES system with production task allocation, reducing production line breakdowns (failure prediction), implementing IIoT systems and purchasing a welding robot.
What we implemented
- MES system for planning and assigning tasks directly to production
- failure prediction tools
- IIoT systems for real-time monitoring of key processes
- welding robot
We describe robotic welding on the robotic welding page.
Expected results
- increased level of technological advancement
- improved competitiveness
- higher quality of manufactured parts and offered services
- reaching new customers
- modernisation of the metalworking sector
Project value and EU contribution
- Project value
- 1,190,640.00 PLN
- European Funds contribution
- 706,640.00 PLN

Questions about EU projects
What EU projects does ECAD have?
On this page, we describe two EU-co-financed projects. The first is “Preparing ECAD for the implementation of a comprehensive transformation towards Industry 4.0” (Industry 4.0 project description). The second is “Implementation of an automated production process for the CUBE modular welding table using innovative DSR stress relieving technology” (DSR project description).
What is the value of the projects and the EU funding?
DSR project: project value 2,087,793.31 PLN, European Funds contribution 982,271.60 PLN. Industry 4.0 project: project value 1,190,640.00 PLN, European Funds contribution 706,640.00 PLN.
Which programme provides the funding for the DSR project?
The regional programme European Funds for Lodzkie 2021–2027 (Fundusze Europejskie dla Łódzkiego 2021–2027).
What did ECAD purchase under the DSR project?
A stress relieving and annealing furnace, a 5-axis machining centre, a welding fume extractor and an extensive green roof structure.
What is DSR?
DSR (Double Stress Relief) is a double stress relieving treatment of the material. In this project, it ensures greater dimensional stability of CUBE welding table modules and increases their fatigue strength.
What did ECAD implement under the Industry 4.0 project?
An MES system for planning and assigning tasks to production, failure prediction tools, IIoT systems and a welding robot.
How can you recognise equipment purchased with EU funding?
By the ‘Purchase co-financed by the European Union’ sticker featuring the European Funds logos. In the photos on this page, you can see it on the welding fume extractor and the furnace from the DSR project. The European Funds logos are also shown next to each project description.
