Laser tube cutting: we are accepting enquiries now

The Bodor SK2 tube and profile laser with a 3D cutting head is planned for launch at our plant in Lodz in December 2026. We are already accepting enquiries for laser tube cutting.

Until installation, we do not yet carry out laser tube cutting orders. However, we are already accepting drawings and models: we will check whether your part fits within the machine’s range and prepare a quote. We will note in the quote that the laser launch is planned for December 2026. You can find the full service description on the laser cutting of tubes and profiles page.

Laser cutting of tubes and profiles: what the laser can cut

The Bodor SK2 rotates the tube or profile in two chucks while the 3D head also cuts the wall at an angle. Laser cutting of tubes and profiles therefore goes beyond cutting to length:

  • Cutting to length. The laser cuts parts from a tube or profile up to 6500 mm long.
  • Holes and cut-outs. The laser cuts holes and cut-outs in the wall of a round, square or rectangular tube.
  • Weld bevels. The 3D head cuts a bevel on the tube edge.

Bevel tube cutting: bevels up to 45°

The 3D head performs bevel tube cutting at angles up to 45° in a single pass. Such a bevel prepares the edge for welding. Mark the angle on the drawing or in the 3D model, and we will verify during quoting whether we can cut that bevel on your part.

What tubes and profiles fit the machine

In our configuration, the Bodor SK2 handles round, square and rectangular tubes up to 230 mm in size. The table shows the maximum ranges.

The values represent the machine’s maximum capacities. Wall thickness and material for a specific order are confirmed during quoting, as are other profile shapes.

After cutting: bending, welding and measurement in a single order

The laser will stand at the start of a process chain that is already running. On our VLB EB53CNC-RH CNC mandrel tube bender, we bend tubes and profiles in the 6–53 mm range; a steel tube can be up to Ø 53 × 2 mm (tube and profile bending). Whether we can bend your tube depends on the wall thickness, material and bending tools, so we verify this when preparing your quote.

We weld tube and profile parts manually and on robotic cells, and inspect dimensions with a Scantech NimbleTrack 3D scanner. Once the laser is commissioned, we will combine cutting, bending, welding and measurement in a single order.

What to send for a tube and profile quote

We quote tube and profile cutting on the basis of a 3D model or drawing, not from a price list. Ideally, send a 3D model in STEP or IGES format: it clearly shows holes, cut-outs and bevels. On the drawing or in your message, specify:

  • tube or profile dimensions and wall thickness,
  • material and grade,
  • part length,
  • positions of holes and cut-outs as well as bevel angles,
  • quantity and whether the parts require bending or welding.

As with our other services, we cut tubes from a single piece to series runs. The price depends on the material, tube or profile size, wall thickness, cutting length, quantity, bending, welding and lead time; see what determines the price of cutting and bending for details.

In our reply, we will ask for any missing details and confirm whether the laser can cut your part. You can send your files via the quote form.
